Q. Do you have programs for toddlers and Pre-K children?
A. We’re pilot-testing some ideas at child care centers. We intend to launch our Scien-tots™ programs sometime early in 2017. Scien-tots™ sessions will be guided opportunities for a parent (or parents) to work through hands-on science activities with their kids.
Q. Will you be running summer camps?
A. Not at present. We no longer have a physical location and, technically, we never had “camps,” as there was no opportunity for outdoor time at our old location. We are in the process of investigating ways in which we can re-boot the IKSL summer experience as a true day camp. In the meantime, we’ll be appearing at schools and child care facilities throughout the summer months.
Q. Do you offer birthday party options?
A. Yes, but we do not have a physical location so arranging that is incumbent on the host family. Cost is $250 for up to 12 children, with each additional child @$12. We do not provide food. Check out some of our options on the “Groups” page.
Q. Do you offer experiences for groups?
A. Yes, but we do not have a physical location so arranging that is incumbent on the hosting group.
Q. Which scouting badges do you offer and how much does it cost?
A. We can customize an event for any badge. To date, we’ve done multiple “Home Scientist” badges and the “Inventor” badge for Brownie Troops.
Q. Who runs sessions for Inventure! Kids’ Science Lab?
A. See the “About Us” page. For large groups, we bring in additional personnel. However, for most events it’s William.
Q. What can we expect from an all-school event?
A. Pretty much the same thing that COSI On Wheels presents, although we’re flexible in how we present it. We can do an all-school assembly, followed by age-appropriate activities in smaller groups. We can also skip the all-school assembly and focus on grade-level groupings or classes. Each school has unique needs and we provide a customized experience to fit.
Q. How can we bring an all-school event to our school?
A. Contact your PTO or PTA. Many have fundraisers for programs like these.
Q. What about after-school programs?
A. We have many options. Sometimes a school’s PTO or PTA arranges the programs and takes a portion of the admission revenue, using the after school program to fund other activities. It’s a win-win situation for all!
